This is Why We Can't Have Nice Things

July 5, 2008 / by JTruant

You people make me sick.  I have done this before and in truth it has been done to death but it’s something that is worth repeating.  Sitting here and scrolling through the collective intellect of the new blogster I am forced to reflect the answer to that age old question; “How many blogsters does it take to screw in a light bulb?”  The answer; “None, they just sit in the dark and cry.”

I read post after post of people saying that they love the sense of community here on blogster and I’ll have to be the first one to say that as a long time blogger here the sense of community is gone and replaced stead with people who just bitch and moan and get into never ending flame wars with one another.  The same old culprits are still here as well.  You know who I am talking about here but most notably being joezsrepublicanpage who unloads grammatically incorrect bile at anyone who disagrees with his stillborn politics and racist, sexist, homophobic, and socially unsound opinions.

Before I left blogster four months ago I did everyone the service of beating that limp dicked f***** back into whatever hole he came out of but I suppose in his quest to become the featured blogger he needed to go public again and start with his flaming trolling ways again.  It isn’t only him though there are a lot of new faces here and with the advent of the new face of blogster it seems we have a lot of people here now that got bored with myspace and livejournal and decided to turn blogster into their new drama-laden shit hole.

It’s no surprise, the new owners here need to make money and it isn’t something that I hold against them but in the quest to make money they have to do what every online community has to do and let in f***ing teenagers.

Don’t get me wrong, there were plenty of teenagers here before I took a vacation from this place but they were mostly sensible and responsible young adults with bright insights and good blogs, now that the floodgates have opened and everyone in the old guard has taken off for greasier pastures it has left an opening for a new order to take hold and these people have a strategy of blogging and blog popularity that is much like Mr. Zipp’s.  Instead of posting anything worth reading they post about six to ten pieces of literary shit a day and attack each other when someone diagrees with them or questions the quality of their shit.

Last night the disgruntled wannabe poet that I insulted had the balls to tell me that I didn’t read it.  Why would I have said the poetry was bad if I hadn’t read it?  Then I got threatened by a less than sixteen year old girl who told me that I may need to clean sperm out of my asshole with my handy douchebag.  Now that didn’t hurt my feelings but this is what you get when you let anyone into your club.

It sure isn't what it use to be here. But like watching a train wreck, I have to stick around to see what happens next. How twisted is that...LOL

Nah, that's human nature... I'm here too :-)

*sigh* perhaps writing intelligent well written blogs, commentaries, profound poetry, will help.  I am not saying yours are any thing but, sir, but everyone else in the community doing the same might change the current trend.  People tend to stay in a community because they fit in or enjoy it and if they do not they will find a space they do.  Time and patience is my motto.

  • JTruant said 3 months ago

I have no time to be patient with these people.  :-D

  • mmmhollywould said 3 months ago

It seems I was successfull in begging you back here.

  • JTruant said 3 months ago

    Don't f***ing test me

  • retro-mess said 3 months ago

I realize that you're talking about me, have you read my poetry? I know it's nothing special, I just post it because I want to. Some people tell me that it's awesome, some people believe it's shit. I don't post on here to get critisised.

  • JTruant said 3 months ago

Then disable comments?  Make your blog private, that way no one will ever come by to tell you how they feel about your poetry.

  • mmmhollywould said 3 months ago

retro-mess, Anyone who writes a blog here gets criticized, everyone.  You are not an exception and neither am I.  I have just recently not been under the gun, which astounds me.

In fact, that is probably true at any blog site.

You  have to be able to take it and move on or be willing to begin a war that may or may not ever end.

  • retro-mess said 3 months ago

But JTruant, I live for fighting. Don't you realize that by now?

  • JTruant said 3 months ago

Then sit in your paper bag and fight.  You have to realize something about me though, you are out of your league.  Stick with fighting off morons and let me say what I want because by the time I'm done with you, you'll have plenty to write awful, tear-jerking poetry about.

To tell you the truth.... I don't care what you live for.  I live for myself.

  • retro-mess said 3 months ago

Excuse me, but I don't have a paper bag. I could possibly have a plastic one that I can suffocate in *emo tear* but I don't believe I'm out of my league. I've fought pretty much every day for the past 6 years, I think I can fight with you. And even if I lose, I'll still know that I didn't give up for my beliefs. And by the way, I wouldn't write about some loser that bashed me on blogster.

It would be all like "Oh boo hoo, JTruant thinks I'm a bad writer!! I'm gonna go die now!!!"

    Yeah.

  • JTruant said 3 months ago

way to show off your teen angst

  • JTruant said 3 months ago

Don't worry, I only think you are a bad writer because I am a good one.  Instead of raging against the machine next year in whatever school you go to why don't you try learning some grammar, spelling, words, and you know; literary techniques... especially those involving poetry.

  • retro-mess said 3 months ago

mmmhollywould, I am willing to begin a war. I know that I'm not an acception, I know that no one is, but I don't take criticism very well. I suppose I could've avoided all this if I hadn't just had to stand up for my friend. Oh well... just letting you know that I am NOT trying to start a fight with you either.

  • JTruant said 3 months ago

The word is exception, and you are right... you aren't one.

  • retro-mess said 3 months ago

I was typing fast, didn't really notice what I was putting. Bet you feel all high and mighty for spotting that one!

  • mmmhollywould said 3 months ago

Loll, I do not "fight" very often(and do not wanna fight with you either) most everything I say is timed and measured something I learned a long time ago.  Never get “emotional” until you have let 24 hours pass or you just write in reaction to the emotional and logic just flies right past you.  Instead of looking intelligent, logical and even empathetic you end of looking like an idiot.

I am going to give you an example and keep in mind considering I do not know if this person is your friend or not, have not read much of anything by her either because it does not interest me or I just missed it hey I may have even commented on one of her blogs however what ever the reason, I do not remember anything about her other than the “I am gonna sick the mafia on you” comment on JT’s previous article.

Well you see that is one of those emotional reactions that colors people’s opinions of you.  Instead of coming off looking intelligent she looked ignorant.  First off what an inflated sense of self, as if any one cares about an e-debate, especially the “mafia”, spooky I tell you,  and as if any one cringes at the thought, you know?  It just came of as ignorant rantings of one who has no intelligent defense of their position.

I am not putting this person down, she may be a wonderful “_____________”  I do not know her so you will have to fill in the blank but her emotional response makes her look like an uneducated wannabe e-bully.  The worst part is no matter what her positive attributes are this comment and that opinion will glare in her face as long as it remains on the net and in the minds of those who read it.  She may be young, I dunno, I do not remember anything about her and some may dismiss it because of that but those like me , who have no idea may bypass her blog.

I would say EVERYONE should use the twenty-four hour rule but then we might have a lot of dull blogs :P

I can say this though fighting with Jt is like fighting inside a wet paper bag, you only end up hitting yourself because he could really care less in the end. I know I lived with him up until this summer.  He writes his “controversial posts” comments on them until he is bored then does something else.  He does not get mad, angry or sad in the face of them, just entertained.  Kinda like a cat playing with one of those toys that is a string held by a stick, kinda like a fishing rod.  The problem is he is holding the rod.  I know, I am often the cat too.

Remember though, the cat has power too, it can stop batting the string J

I have good grammer and spelling. So I don't know how to spell 'criticized'... amazing! I honestly couldn't care less what you think... are you trying to get famous by being a jerk? So you bash a 13 year old girl's poetry on a blogging site.. whoo, you deserve a prize!! And I was mocking you earlier, trying to fulfill your idea of what a teenager is. Yes, I have black hair and write poetry, alert the press! ///_^

  • JTruant said 3 months ago

Yeah, this shot hole of a blog site is gonna make me famous.

    The word is grammar

    :-)

  • retro-mess said 3 months ago

Well I mean, haters make me famous so keep talking about me! :P

  • LauriesAsylum said 3 months ago

I'm new here,  so far I've only seen one rant blog against another blogger. I think this probably happens on with all blogsites.

I do feel though,  if you have your own blog, you should be able to say whatever you want on it. It's your blog...  People don't have to read it, right?

  • JTruant said 3 months ago

    I absolutely agree

  • mmmhollywould said 3 months ago

I wanted to give you the thumbs up icon but alas...it is no longer there!

  • dramaqueen312 said 3 months ago

I would just like to say you keep bashing me please the mroe you do it the more people like my work so i dont give a shit what you say, and you think your a good writer i just read your stuff prettying stupid

  • JTruant said 3 months ago

English motherf***er, do you speak it?

I'm a published writer... what about you?

  • dramaqueen312 said 3 months ago

yeah i speak english so w.e and uh dont care your published i 14 years old not 24 and also why do you have to pick on someone younger then you obviously my work is not going to be the best i never said it was but your obviously really inmature to make fun of my work. Like i write different then you maybe you think it shitty and it may be but i dont write for you i write for myslef and if people dont like it then why do they have to write a post about it.

  • mmmhollywould said 3 months ago

I just wanted to chime in here before this blows into something big enough for me to need/want to blog about.  When going to the “most popular” list and then reading the blogs and finding them ALL virtually unreadable either because of horrible typo’s terrible grammar or so soaked in treacle it gives you a sore tooth just to read it  some bloggers apparently get a little unnerved and blame this on the fact that many veteran bloggers who did not fall into any of the aforementioned categories have left because of unrelated circumstances.

Fortunately some of us have chose to stay but it is unnerving to see a whole lot of stuff we do not wanna read on the main page.

My problem is regardless of someone’s age, which I do not ever bother to check, if they are writing a public blog they are open to criticism.  That may come in the form of a nice nudge or someone totally disagreeing with you and thinking you are terrible all the way around.

Some people think Stephan King is the Edgar Allen of this century others think he completely sucks.  Both opinions are allowed and are valid.

Why should your age that one may or may not have bothered to read exempt you from criticism no matter the form?

Further being a published writer does make a hell of a difference in the blogging community.

  • retro-mess said 3 months ago

I was actually talking about dramaqueen321, not mafialover.

  • mmmhollywould said 3 months ago

Glad I was reading this whole thing.  I just used that as an example(mafia girl).  I have not really "read" who said what .  Just it seems a bit silly to me.

  • retro-mess said 3 months ago

mmmhollywould, I really respect you, you seem to be the chaos settler of this site. You do point out things that many people have overlooked, and I know that I really shouldn't start things with people. I just always stick up for my friends, and I really do like her writing style, even though she doesn't have the best of spelling. But you're just the one that always keeps their cool. Thanks for looking out for us.

now that the floodgates have opened and everyone in the old guard has taken off for greasier pastures

That is true and funny.  Taken off for greasier pastures.

I totally agree with you about those f.ucking teenagers. Who do they think they are, with their loud music and their not-fully-matured bodies. They're always complaining about some trivial shit that no one cares about and making it seem like their problems matter. I wish I could take all the teenagers on this site and just rape them. That would teach those young whipper-snappers a lesson or two.

  • JTruant said 3 months ago

You are another reason why we can't have nice things.

  • Italian_Stallion said 3 months ago

    You broke my heart.

  • JTruant said 3 months ago

    Better than breaking your balls

  • Italian_Stallion said 3 months ago

Now you're just flirting with me. I'm sorry Johnny, but I'm spoken for.
